Dry eye?
Tears: A gift from Allah.
Your tears are a true gift from Allah.
They keep your eyes healthy, clean, and comfortable every day.
Tears are not just water – they are a special mix of oil, water, and mucus.
Together, they form a thin, smooth film that protects your eyes from dryness and irritation [1].
When your eyes don’t have enough of these healthy tears, problems start to appear [2].
Why tears matter?
This tear film keeps your eyes:
- Moist and smooth.
- Protected from dust and germs.
- Clear for good vision
Dry Eye Disease:
A common and chronic condition that occurs when the eyes don’t produce enough tears or when the tears don’t function properly.
Sometimes, your tears are too few or evaporate too quickly.
This can make your eyes feel:
- Dry or sandy.
- Burning or stinging.
- Watery - yes, even dry eyes can tear up more to “make up” for the dryness.
- Blurry or tired after long screen use.
Without enough protection, your eyes can get inflamed and easily infected. That’s why caring for your tear health is so important [2, 3].
There are two main causes of dry eyes
1.Aqueous-deficient dry eye (not enough tears are made).
- The tear gland may not produce enough fluids – this can happen with age, certain medications, or health conditions [2]
2.Evaporative dry eye (eyes dry too fast).
- The oil glands in your eyelids (called meibomian glands) may not work well. Without enough oil, your tears evaporate quickly, and dryness continues [4]
